About Us
Since 1976 Don Bowen, CPF and his family have enjoyed producing and selling The Mighty Mounts products to their many loyal customer. As with any business there comes a time to retire and let someone else carry on.
Don Bowen has sold the Might Mounts Company to Bob Victor of Bob Victor's in Topeka in April 2005.
Bob Victor has moved the operations to Topeka and has started shipping orders of the Mighty Mounts. He plans to manufacture the Mighty Mounts and distribute them through a network of distributors. Victor is developing plans to make the name Mighty Mounts as common a household name with the current generation of framers as "What's For Dinner" "Beef" The Mighty Mounts is the fastest and safest way to attach any kind of collectable object in a shadow box frame. Victor has manufactured for years the Solid American Hardwood expandable shadow box frame that Bowen designed to use with the Mighty Mounts. Bowen and Victor believe combining the two products would be a natural.
The sale of shadow box frames has become a major revenue source for many framers. Some framers do not like to offer shadow box framing because of the extra time required attaching the objects in the frame. The Mighty Mounts were developed, to quickly and easily attach objects in shadow box frames. The Mighty Mounts were the result of a customer wanting to shadow box some hand made knifes for a knife maker, so that he could show off his handy work at traveling shows. There were some requirements outlined - not damaging the knife, and it must be removable for close examination. The request started the development of the Mighty Mounts.
The Mighty Mounts are polycarbonate plastic devices that have a stem that is quickly and easily placed through a mat board and 3X mounting board backing to hold the object in the shadow box frame. First you lay out your objects in a shadow box the way you want them to be viewed. Second take an awl and place a hole at the desired location through the backing. Place the stem of the Mighty Mounts through the hole and place a speed nut on the back to hold the Mighty Mount in place. Third you install the Mighty Mount. Place the object in the shadow box. When glue or wire is used to attach the objects to the backing it takes a lot of time to construct the shadow box. This process can damage the object and the glue can give away in time allowing the object to come loose in the frame.
